Who We Are
The Greene County Animal Welfare Coalition is a group of Greene County, TN-based Animal Rescue and Welfare Organizations, who are dedicated to improving the well-being of Greene County’s pets and their families, through sharing knowledge and resources to facilitate responsible pet ownership in Greene County, TN.
Chain Free Greeneville and Greeneville Pet Food Pantry
Chain Free Greeneville is a 501c3 non-profit organization which strives to provide a better quality of life for dogs, by educating the public and working with one family at a time, to end a lifetime of unattended chaining or tethering of dogs in Greene County TN. The organization builds fences for dogs that are living on chains.
The Pet Food Pantry, at times, has distributing up to an average of 2000 pounds of food per week! Unfortunately, the sources for food and supplies have dried up and the Pantry now operates on an emergency only basis. We've got our fingers crossed as we look for other sources so that we can continue operating the pantry.
Cat's in the Cradle New Life Sanctuary
Cat’s in the Cradle New Life Sanctuary is a 501(c) 3 non-profit Animal rescue in Mosheim, Greene County, TN.
Operating on a parcel of land with barns and other outbuildings, this animal rescue includes barn cats and house cats, most of which are available for adoption. Kennels on this parcel are also in use for dogs being fostered. This rescue works closely with other Greene County rescues.
CITCNLS also coordinates monthly low-cost spay/neuter and vaccination clinics for pet owners, as well as Feral Trap Spay/Neuter and Release communities (TNR Program).
Dead Dogs Walking TN
Dead Dogs Walking TN is a 501c3 non-profit organization that rescues small dogs and cats in Greeneville, TN. We take in adoptable dogs (and some cats) from area kill-shelters, relinquished by owners and stray dogs thrown on the side of the road like trash. We vet them, care for them and place them in loving, forever homes.
Additionally, we sponsor the vetting of dogs and cats on death row in local kill shelters as funds permit.
Imminent Danger German Shepherd Rescue
Imminent Danger German Shepherd Rescue is a no-kill, all-volunteer organization whose members are passionate about German Shepherd Dogs. Our efforts are focused on helping these GSDs who, through no fault of their own, find themselves in high kill shelters or otherwise homeless, lost, neglected or abandoned by humans they loved.
The rescue started small in East TN in 2011 with 3 dogs. In 2016, the West TN Chapter was started after seeing the need in the Memphis-surrounding area. Slowly, over the years, the rescue grew and we now rescue hundreds of dogs each year. IDGSR has saved over 4,000 dogs since the rescue began. The dogs we have taken in come from varying backgrounds including municipal shelters, strays and owner surrenders. The two things they all have in common is they desperately need a safe place to escape the terrible situations they came from, and can't wait to find their furever home where they will be loved and cared for the rest of their life.
Paws Rescue League
Paws Rescue League Inc.’s mission is to save dogs that are abused, neglected, dumped and/or discarded to fend for themselves; those who wind up in the shelter and are facing euthanasia. We completely vet each dog, and place them in a loving foster home where they can blossom with nurture, love and care. Then work on finding them a wonderful FURever home, once they are cleared for adoption and transport.
We are an all-inclusive, volunteer foster-based, 501(c)(3) canine rescue and strive to find the best home possible for each dog we save. We believe each and every dog deserves a fighting chance and a family of their own, and to experience love. We wish to give these dogs and our adopters many happy and fulfilling years with each other!
We started Paws Rescue League Inc. because we wanted to do MORE to help save dogs and to ensure that all our volunteers share the same goals, ideals and values when it comes to our canine companions. We strive to work with other rescues in the communities we save dogs from. We are firm believers that it takes a village, and our focus is to save canine lives, and find them the best possible homes. When we all have the same common goal, it is easy to come together, and support one another.
Paws Rescue League Inc. gives back to our communities as often as we can. We donate surplus food, medications and supplies to pet food banks for families who are struggling to continue to care for their beloved pets; thereby trying to do our part to help prevent dogs and cats entering shelters. PRL also gives financial assistance to spay/neuter dogs in these communities, to help decrease the overpopulation of dogs that wind up on the street, in shelters or worse.
